Provost & Executive Vice Chancellor Enrique Lavernia serves as department head of the Offices of the Chancellor and Provost. As Executive Vice Chancellor, he shares with the Chancellor the overall leadership and management of campus administration and operations. Within this capacity, he is also the UCD Affirmative Action Officer and the governing body of the UC Davis Medical Center. As Provost, he is the chief academic officer for the campus.

The Senior Staff of the offices provide executive support to the Chancellor and the Provost & Executive Vice Chancellor in carrying out their responsibilities:
Steve Drown, Campus Counsel. The Office of the Campus Counsel provides advice and counsel in the development of policy, procedures, and strategy to address a wide range of issues related to the management and operation of the UC Davis campus and its various colleges and graduate schools. The Campus Counsel prepares legal opinions and provides coordination and liaison between the campus, the Office of the General Counsel, and outside counsel concerning the needs and requirements of the campus. This office also develops and provides educational seminars on various legal topics of interest to the campus community.

The responsibilities include the coordination and management of administrative matters that are within the purview of the Executive Vice Chancellor in the role as the Chief Operations Officer.

She is responsible for providing advice to the Chancellor and facilitating the resolution of matters requiring the Chancellor’s attention, conceptualizing and implementing initiatives to advance the Chancellor’s vision, serving as a liaison to the Office of the President and to other campus units, and supporting the Chancellor’s internal and external communications and relationship-strengthening needs.
